David was born in Douglas, GA. He moved to Brooksville at the age of 3. As a life long resident of Brooksville he grew up attending Hernando County schools, and is a graduate of Hernando High School. After high school David went to Gupton-Jones Mortuary School, where he graduated in 1976. David was voted by his class as having the most professional attitude towards the funeral business, and was given the Bill-Pierce Award by his classmates. David has also been involved in many civic associations and is involved with the daily operations of Merritt Funeral Home.
Joseph L. Merritt

Joseph was born in Brooksville, FL. He attended Hernando High School, where he graduated in 1994. Growing up and working in the family business, Joseph went to St. Petersburg College, where he graduated in 1998 with a degree in Funeral Services. Joseph was involved in Phi Theta Kappa and made the Dean’s List throughout his studies in Mortuary School. Joseph has an active pre-need license and acts as manager of both Merritt Funeral Home locations.
Lynn, David's wife, was born in Tampa, FL. She is a life long resident and a graduate of Hernando High School. Lynn holds an active pre-need license and is a family counselor. Lynn is in charge of the overall operation and staff management of both Merritt Funeral Home locations.
Randy was born in Lucedale, Mississippi and grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana. He graduated from Delgado Community College with a degree in Mortuary Science in 1986. He has been a Licensed Funeral Director/Embalmer for over 30 years. He moved to Florida after Hurricane Katrina and has resided in Port Richey for the last 10 years. Randy has been with Merritt Funeral Home since February 2016 and looks forward to seeing the families in Hernando County. He has a true heart for the funeral business.
