MAURA, Richard F., 78, of Spring Hill, Florida, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Bayfront Health Spring Hill.
Born October 11, 1942 in Hartford, Connecticut, he came to the area eight years ago from Plainville, Connecticut. He was a veteran of the United States Navy serving aboard the USS Intrepid. He was an avid golfer and member and former president of the Stanley Men’s Club in New Britain, CT for more than 50 years. In recent years he became involved with the Wounded Warriors Project, and was a parishioner of St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents; his first wife: Susan M. Maura; brother: John Maura; and sister: Linda Maura. He is survived by his wife: Palmira C, Maura; daughter and son-in-law: Susan & Robert Fantoli of Southington, CT; stepdaughter and son-in-law: Elaine & Shawn Riley of Chicopee, MA; brothers and sisters-in-law: Ted & Magda Maura and Chester & Shelly Maura, all of Middletown, CT; sisters: MaryAnn Shampang of Durham, CT, Catherine Maura of West Palm Beach, FL; and four grandchildren: Kaylee Fantoli, Robert Fantoli, Amber Harrison, and Kayla Harrison.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Connecticut.
