Raymond E. Passage, 89, of Timber Pines, Spring Hill, Florida, passed away on March 14, 2020.
Raymond was born November 27, 1930 to Flag and Lenna (McGrady) Passage in Bailey, Michigan, then graduated from Grant High School in 1950 and Michigan State College in 1954 (now Michigan State University) with a degree in Agricultural Science. He was also enrolled in ROTC. In February 1955, Raymond was called from reserve status into the US Army as a 2nd Lieutenant. He received his basic training at the Armored School in Fort Knox, Kentucky. Raymond completed his military service in 1957 where his last assignment was with Company F, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment, as a tank unit commander, and honorably discharged as 1st Lieutenant.  

While stationed in Germany, Raymond met and fell in love with the love of his life for the past 63 years, Karola (Teuber) Passage. They were married in 1957 in Bailey, Michigan, and have been inseparable ever since. Theirs is a wonderful love story. They made their home in Fremont, Michigan before retiring to Spring Hill, Florida. Ray is survived by his wife Karola. Ray is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Ron Passage, Rollo Passage, and sister, Marjorie Passage.

Raymond retired from Gerber Products Company, Fremont, Michigan as Director of Global Agriculture Operations in the mid-1990s. Ray worked at Gerber for 35 years. As Director of Global Agriculture, Ray was responsible for directing policy formulation for agricultural ingredient development and agricultural research programs. He also served as the leader for the National Food Processors Association and the Michigan Food Processors Association. Ray also was appointed to serve on the Michigan Marketing and Bargaining Board, member of the MSU Agricultural Advisory Board, and served two terms as a board member of the Fremont Area Chamber of Commerce. Ray and his wife Karola were also very big supporters of 4-H youth development where he was a 4-H Foundation trustee for 13 years.
