Obituary
Jimmie “Ray” Rodgers, 76, of Brooksville, Florida, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2021 on Valentine's Day.
He was born May 30, 1944 in Jacksonville Florida, to parents Troy and Ruby Rodgers. Ray was honorably discharged from the United States Army Reserves and was a retired Ironworker. He loved teaching children anything they wanted to learn, loved fishing as well as gardening every day and definitely had a green thumb. He was a loving son, husband, father, papa, brother, uncle, coach, friend and believer in Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred Rodgers; his children, Melissa Rodgers, Shannon Rodgers, Jimmie Ray Rodgers II (Lorenzo Canale), Michael Walker, and Amanda Kirkland (Kyle Kirkland); siblings, Carolyn Keegan (J.C. Keegan), Helen Rodgers, and Harold Rodgers; grandchildren, Bryttany (Skye), Clayton, Elaina, Tyler, Alyson, and Carter; great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and touched many many hearts. He is preceded in death by both of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Troy Rodgers; his sons, Shelton “Kyle” Rodgers (2010) and Jimmie Ledon Rodgers (2021).
A Visitation for family and friends will be held 1:00-2:00pm, Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Merritt Funeral Home, Brooksville Chapel, where Funeral Services will begin at 2:00pm, with Ms. Lynda Rasheed officiating. Light refreshments will follow services from 3:30-5:30pm at the Brooksville Commons just a few steps away from the service.
To keep loved ones healthy, the family requests all visitors wear a face covering.
