DIAZ-BRUMBAUGH, Connie Jo, 73, of Rockledge, FL, died Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at Rockledge Health and Rehab of Dementia with complications. She was born September 30, 1946, at Eglin AFB and relocated to Rockledge from Tampa, FL. She lived her life as a proud home-maker; as well as having an entrepreneurial spirit before the term became mainstream. She opened her home to working mothers for a safe place in which to leave their children. She even offered salon services to these same women for special occasions or the day-to-day professional look. As busy as she was, she was always there for friends, family and neighbors, with a cup of coffee and a seat as they would lay out troubles in which they were facing. Sadly, dementia crept into her latter years, ripping away at the fabric of a lady everyone knew and loved. Yet, she never lost empathy for those around her. Her main hobby that she defined as therapeutic, was gardening for she had a green thumb. She claimed she always felt closer to God at those times 'tending to His Garden'.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Donald and Marjorie Brumbaugh. Connie is survived by her sisters, Cathy Biddle of Rockledge, FL, Patti Merrick, of St. Petersburg, FL and her brother, Mark Brumbaugh of Rogersville, TN. She is also survived by her 5 children, Mitzi Douglas in Spring Hill, FL, Marcee Dee(Roy)Carpenter in Rockledge, FL Michelle(Stacy)Stegner in Tampa, FL, Ricky & John Vanderhoff in Thomasville, GA. Connie also has 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She leaves behind her 'soul sisters', Judy Goley of Ocala, FL & Bette Parker of Hudson, FL. Per Connie, a service will not be held. In lieu of flowers, we are requesting a donation in Connie's name to the Alzheimer's Association at www.ALZ.org.
