MOONEY, Clelia, 91, of Spring Hill, Florida passed away on Friday, April 30, 2021, at Brookdale Senior Living.
Born May 19, 1929, in Palermo, Sicily, she came to the United States at 16 years old after meeting and marrying the love of her life, James (Jim) J Mooney. Jim was an American soldier. It was love at first sight. They were married in Naples, Italy in 1945. She came to America alone on a hospital Army ship and waited for Jim to be discharged. With God’s love, Jim returned home safely from the war. They soon started their family in New York and had their only daughter Anne Irene and were married for 50 years before Jim passed away. Clelia’s is funeral is exactly 26 years to the day after Jim’s.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, James J. Mooney, and her daughter, Anne Irene Silvera. She is survived by her son-in-law, Donald Silvera; grandson, Jim Silvera and his wife, Karen, and son, Mark Hawkins; granddaughter, Clairanne Graham and Jack Graham; great-grandchildren, Joey, Andrew, and Christopher Graham.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am, Wednesday, May 12, 2021, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Florida National Cemetery.
