De La Mater, Charles Fremont, 92, passed away Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at the HPH Hospice Care Center.
Born April 13, 1927 in Brooksville, Florida, he was the son of the late Gilbert & Myrtle (Smalley) De La Mater. He proudly served in the United States Army and was a World War II veteran. He was a member of the VFW Brooksville Post #15010, a lifelong resident of Brooksville, and one of the last Florida Crackers.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rose E. (Jackson) De La Mater, his son, Charles "Snap" F. De La Mater II; sisters, Ruth D. Bundy and Clara Walker. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Ashleigh & James Lane of Georgetown, Texas, Donna & Ricky Martin of Brooksville, Florida, Luci & Larry Davis of Lexington, South Carolina and Charlene De La Mater-Reneau & Bill Reneau of Austin, Texas; sister, Mary Weiler of Brooksville, Florida; 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
A Graveside Service will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, March 21, 2020 at Lake Lindsey Cemetery, with Reverend Bob Hope officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the HPH Hospice Care Center.
