Joan Mary Feger, formerly of Spring Hill, FL, passed from this life while residing in Louisville, Kentucky on September 19, 2019. Joan was born July 30, 1939 in London, England to the late Brigid Hayes Keenan and Peter Keenan, both of Ireland.
Born amidst the Great Depression and swelling tide of World War II, she survived a childhood marked with air raids, food rations and buzz bombs. Joan forged her father’s signature and gained passage to New York City in 1959. One year later Joan met and married her husband Lester Lee Feger. Their 46-year marriage lasted until Lester’s passing in November 2006.
In addition to her parents, Joan is preceded in death by two sisters, Gloria Gomez of El Ferrol, Spain, and Delia Maslen of London, England. She is survived by her five children and their spouses; Peter Feger of Tampa, FL, Michael Feger of London, KY, Kathleen Feger-Strother of Littleton, CO, James Feger and his wife Elisha of Louisville, KY, David Feger and his wife Cory of Brooksville, FL. She is also survived by two sisters, Dorothy Bako, of London, England, and Maureen Keenan of Exeter, England. Joan had great affection for and is additionally survived by her grandchildren; Corey, Hannah, Rachel, Shane, Shena, Tara, Alyssa, Anthony and Joseph.
Joan will be laid to rest privately with her husband in the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida.
