LaCross, Carla M., 45, of Weeki Wachee, FL, died peacefully September 13, 2019 after an 8 year battle with breast cancer with her family by her side. Carla fought with a fierce determination to beat this disease and was a huge advocate to help others know that you know your body, just listen to it. Carla was born on December 7, 1973 in Fort Walton Beach, FL.
She is survived by her husband, Darren LaCross of Weeki Wachee, FL; sons, Austin Marin (Jenna) of Clearwater, FL and Jay Magee (Lani) of Tallahassee, FL; daughter, Deprise Cowley (Paul Riche) of Tifton, GA; father, James D. Miller (Jan) of Lynn Haven, FL; mother, Terecia Caswell Zwart (Dennis) of Barronett, WI; sister, Tammy Bartz (Jamie) of Spooner, WI; brothers, Kevin Zwart (Rebecca) and Robert Zwart, all of Farmington, WI; nieces, Dana and Emma Bartz of Spooner, WI, Haleigh, Issabelle and Drew Zwart of Farmington, MN; nephews, Jacob Zwart of Farmington, MN and Jordan Zwart (Heather) of Brookings, SD; grandchildren, Demi and Dustin Cowley; and dear friend of the family, Josh. Carla is preceded in death by her grandparents, Carl & Oveal Caswell (Panama City, FL) and Hughie & Mary Miller (Wausau, FL).
Carla’s love for the sunshine, yoga, which she did daily for the first 7 years of her battle with cancer, and also paddle boarding and hooping gave her a tremendous love for the outdoors. She felt the yoga was what actually helped her to keep the strength she had to fight the disease and the paddle board she said taught her that when you fall off you just climb back on and work harder, and that is what she did for 8 years.
Her smile was amazing from start to finish.
She gave us the sweetest blessing anyone could give in her smile as she left us.
There can be no doubt in our mind that she is totally at peace
and we are so blessed to have experienced that miracle.
Services for Carla will be held at Lakeview Methodist Church, Hertel, WI on Saturday, October 19, 2019. Visitation will begin at 10:00am with a Memorial Service at 11:00am, followed by a meal at the church.
