QUEEN, Carl W., 96, of Brooksville, Florida, passed away Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Bayfront Health Brooksville.
Born July 13, 1922 in Cherokee County, Georgia, he was the son of the late Arthur and Irene Queen. He was a decorated WWII veteran having served under General Patton as a Private in the United States Army from 1940 to 1945. He proudly continued to serve his country as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Air Force from 1945 to 1948. Twice he was awarded the Purple Heart among other commendations. He worked as a machinist for Del Monte Foods, was a lifetime honorary member of the Florida Sheriff’s Association and was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church.
He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 69 years, Frieda O. Queen. He is survived by his niece Eula Mae Brown.
A Graveside Service with military honors will take place at 11:00am, Monday, November 26, 2018 at Florida National Cemetery, with Revered Paul Meske officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Florida Sheriff’s Boys Ranch or Christ Lutheran Church.
