HOMER, Robert E., 86, of Brooksville, passed away October 28, 2017 at Marliere Care Center.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Ann Homer and daughter, Karen McKenna. He is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Robert, Jr. & Lori Homer of Holiday, Florida and Richard & Kimberly Homer of Brooksville, Florida; beloved grandchildren, Richard, Chris, Amberdawn, Christina, Drew, Caleb, Jordann, Laryn; great-grandchildren, Brantly, Aurora, Grayson, Conner.
Bob was born December 22, 1930 in San Diego, California and came to this area 14 years ago from Palm Harbor, Florida. He served his country in the United States Army for five years: National Guard - Infantry Rifleman (1947-1949) and US Army - Airborne Infantry, proudly earning his Parachute and Glider Wings (1949-1952). He was also a two time B.P.O.E Exalted Ruler in Tarpon Springs FL. After the Military, Bob earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in Daven Port Iowa in 1957 after graduating from Palmer Chiropractic College. Moving to Florida, Chiropractic services were not recognized so Bob worked as an apprentice to a funeral director at Rhodes Funeral Home in Clearwater Florida for two years; moving then to Eckerd Drug Stores where he worked for 30 years as the Director of Maintenance, retiring in 1993.
Bob was of the Episcopal faith and loved God tremendously. He also had a love of woodworking and built many pieces of furniture as well as a cabin in Tennessee. He was loved by anyone who met him, having a warm and caring heart; he will be missed by many.
